"If I go to the mountains I'm happy"

There are experiences that go beyond words, emotions that resonate in the soul and find expression between the lines of a diary. It is with this spirit that Dolomist was born: to celebrate the unique moments that the mountains give us. Today we are excited to present Journal , our new section dedicated to the stories, thoughts and emotions that arise among the peaks.

Journal is inspired by the traditional summit diary , that notebook kept in refuges or on peaks, where mountaineers and hikers leave indelible traces of their passage. Stories of what they have seen, heard and discovered, shared with those who will come after them.

We bring this tradition into the digital world not to replace it, but to give it new life and make it accessible to all. We want to create a space where the voices of those who love the mountains can resonate, where experiences can be shared without filters and without haste.

Our first contribution comes from Andrea Negro , who has captured in words the essence of what walking in the Julian Alps means to him. His reflections perfectly embody the spirit of our Journal : intimate, sincere and deeply human.

“But when I go to the mountains in the Julian Alps I feel accustomed and totally vulnerable to life.

The heights, the narrow peaks to reach suddenly become unimportant. I feel as if I should receive nothing more, as if I did not need anything else.

I feel like any person should feel every day. Humble in the face of this pure and disarming beauty.

I trample on that soft ground, that faded but alive grass.

I watch simple black birds flutter around me, playing freely in the wind, and I feel grateful.

I breathe that air and its scent is still the same as when I was twelve.

I always have those eyes.

I still have that heart.

I grew up.

I'm alive.

And I’m holding on to this moment with all my heart.”

This is the mountain we want to tell. Not just the physical challenge of reaching the summit, but the inner journey that transforms us, that brings us back to the essence of who we really are.

We invite you to join us on this journey. Share your thoughts, your emotions, the moments that have touched your heart. Together, we will build a Journal that not only celebrates the majesty of the mountain, but also the depth of the human soul.

How to Contribute to the Journal

If you have a story to tell, a thought to share or an emotion you want to put on paper, the Journal is the right place for you. Send us your writings, your poems, your photographs. Each contribution is a piece that enriches this community, a thread that binds us all through the passion for the mountains.

Why Journaling is Important
In an increasingly frenetic world, the mountains offer us a break, a moment to reflect and reconnect with ourselves and with nature. The Journal is our way of capturing these fleeting moments and sharing them with others who understand and appreciate this beauty.

We are waiting for you between the lines of the next story.
Join us, get inspired and become part of the Dolomist story.

A hug,

The Dolomist Team
