Very popular and well-marked excursion.
Starting from Passo Tre Croci, take path no. 215. This is a varied and panoramic route, with climbs and descents. It initially winds through a forest. After an initial flat section, the route becomes more difficult, with a series of metal ladders and some exposed sections along a flat ledge, equipped with metal cables.
After these short equipped sections, you will quickly reach the Rifugio Vandelli. From here you can quickly reach the lake.
For the return journey, we recommend following the same route taken on the outward journey, along path no. 215.

🏔 Curiosities of the place

Perhaps the most famous lake in the Dolomites, with its opalescent turquoise color it is unique in the world.
We are in the heart of the Sorapis Massif, in front of the Finger of God. While reaching it, behind us we leave the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Lake Misurina and the Cristallo.
The lake is of glacial origin: it is fed by the melting snow of Mount Sorapis. What makes it unique is its color due to particular chemical and bacteriological characteristics of the water: the rock dust from the glacier from which it originates, settling on the bottom of the lake, gives it the shades of blue for which it has become famous.

The itinerary is very popular throughout the summer period. If you want to enjoy the lake avoiding the crowds and the queue along the path we recommend you leave early in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon or avoid the weekends.
NB It is forbidden to bathe in the lake, whose ecosystem is very delicate. It is our duty to protect and safeguard this environment from incorrect behavior. If you are hot, you can have a beer at the nearby Vandelli refuge! 🍻☀️
NNB Unlike the flatness generated by social media, the trail requires a certain amount of training due to the length of the itinerary and a sure step for the more exposed sections.
