Mount Osternig is one of the most scenic peaks in the Carnic Alps to reach: an incredibly scenic hike above Ugovizza, on the border between Italy and Austria, characterized by incredible valleys and pastures.

🎯 Practical advice

The return can be via the ascent route (Italian side, gentler) or on the north side (Austrian, steeper) up to the Nordio refuge.
The hike to the Nordio refuge is also suitable for a snowshoe hike.
